Fund for the Internally Displaced
Persons (IDPs) in Kenya
In the wake of the post-election unrest
in Kenya at the beginning of 2008 the DGM set up this Fund
under the Chairmanship of the Deputy
District Grand Master, V W Bro Walter Ookok, to offer:
- Immediate relief to the IDPs
- Long-term sustainable support,
especially in education
- Support to Masons and their dependents
in the areas affected by the violence
Funds for the Project were raised
through:
- The District Grand Charity - KSh.1
Million
- Grand Charity - UK Pounds 10,000 for
immediate relief
- Lodges in the District - KSh.513,000
- Registered Masonic Trust - KSh.250,000

One of the touching stories is of a
David Asiga a long distance runner from Eldoret who had to run away
and ultimately was found in the Jamhuri Camp after which he was taken
to the SOS Children’s Village. The committee has arranged for his
Secondary School education at the Kipchoge Keino Secondary School in
Eldoret, where he is also receiving long distance running training

SCANN - STREET CHILDREN PROJECT,
NAKURU

The District IDP Committee has
adopted 12 ID children who are based at Scann Street Chidren Project
in Nakuru and Kshs. 240,000/- has already been sent to them - 10th
August 2008
W Bro Milan R. Shah of PC Shah & R
P Shah Charitable trust has adopted 2 ID children. W Bro Mukund
C. Shah has adopted 1 ID child. Mau Forest Lodge, Kericho has
donated for 1 ID child. The District IDP Committee are
supporting the remaining 8 ID children |
